Stockewell vs Pardy Debate

Stay or Leave? is a live, in-person debate presented by The Lavigne Show, built around one of the biggest political questions facing Alberta today:

Should Alberta leave Canada and become an independent country?

Representing the Stay side is Stockwell Day, former leader of the opposition and former leader of the Canadian Alliance. Representing the Leave side is Bruce Pardy, Queen’s University law professor and Executive Director of Rights Probe. The evening will be moderated and hosted by Jason Lavigne, author of Oh, Canada - What Have You Done? and host of The Lavigne Show.

This is a two-night, two-city engagement, with the same in-person program and participants appearing both nights:

• Edmonton — Thursday, September 17, 2026 
• Calgary — Friday, September 18, 2026 

Schedule

• 5:30 PM — VIP Meet & Greet 
• 6:30 PM — General Admission Doors Open 
• 7:00 PM — Debate Begins 
• 8:00 PM — Audience Q&A 
• 9:00 PM — Event Ends 

The Q&A will be done in written form, with question cards provided to attendees. Questions will be moderated by Jason Lavigne.

This event is for everyone — those decided for Stay, those decided for Leave, and those who are still undecided. The goal is to create an evening where Albertans can hear both sides presented seriously, respectfully, and directly.

The event will be conducted in a safe, secure, professional environment for all attendees. Respectful disagreement is welcome. Disruptive conduct will not be permitted.
